What counts as a plumbing job in this data
Counted:
- Plumbing fixtures: bathtubs, shower enclosures, bidets, toilets, sinks, sump pumps, indoor hot tubs, water softeners, other major fixtures and new faucets.
- Interior water pipes: supply pipes, waste pipes and drains inside the building.
Not counted:
- Repairing an existing faucet.
- Hoses to a washing machine or dishwasher.
- Water heaters, built-in dishwashers and garbage disposals (separate jobs in the survey).
- Routine minor work such as painting or decorating.
Survey categories: "Added or replaced plumbing fixtures" and "Added or replaced interior water pipes". Costs the Census Bureau filled in (25% of the professional jobs) are left out.
